A 14-year-old boy has been identified as the victim killed in a shooting in Chicago’s Loop neighborhood late Friday night, hours after the city’s annual tree lighting ceremony drew crowds downtown.
The deceased teen was identified as Armani Floyd, a freshman in high school, according to a family member.
Details of the Attack
The incident occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, in the 100 block of South Dearborn Street. Police said the shooting was one of two that took place in the downtown area that evening amid sporadic gunfire between groups of teenagers.
Floyd was shot multiple times in the attack. He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy on Saturday.
A second victim, an 18-year-old male, was also shot in the leg and was listed in serious condition at an area hospital, police confirmed.
Investigation Ongoing
Several other teenagers were reportedly wounded in the scattered violence across the area following the major downtown event.
No suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting of Armani Floyd and the 18-year-old. Area Three detectives are currently leading the investigation into the fatal incident.
