A viral Facebook post claiming Dr Pepper is giving away free mini fridges to celebrate selling 500 million drinks in the U.S. in one year is a scam, our investigation has confirmed.
The misleading posts, which urge users not to “drink Dr Pepper until you see this,” direct people to a suspicious website, drpepper.get-offer.my, which has no affiliation with the official Dr Pepper website.
The post typically reads: “So, nobody really knows this yet, but they just hit a huge milestone, 500 million drinks sold in the states in just one year! To celebrate this, they launched a game where you can get a mini fridge or other prizes. I managed to get my hands on a mini fridge in just a few minutes. I don’t know when this promotion will end, so claim yours while you can. Just tap the ‘Learn more’ button to go straight to their promo.”
However, clicking the “Learn more” link leads to a fraudulent site unrelated to Dr Pepper.
No official announcements or reports from Dr Pepper confirm any such giveaway.
Similar scams have been reported with other major brands, often asking users to provide personal information or make payments to “claim” prizes that never materialize. Engaging with these offers risks data theft, malware, or unwanted solicitations.
Consumers are advised to avoid clicking on suspicious links and to verify promotions directly through Dr Pepper’s official website. If it seems too good to be true, it likely is.
