Nigerian rapper Temidayo Omoniyi, popularly known as Zlatan Ibile, has opened up about a major lifestyle change; quitting smoking.
The Zanku crooner made the revelation during an interactive session with fans on Snapchat, where he responded to a question about whether he still smokes.
According to Zlatan, it’s a question he gets almost daily, and he finally decided to clear the air once and for all.
He wrote:
“A day can’t pass without someone asking me this question. Yes, I quit smoking 4 years ago. And I have no issues with smokers.”
The rapper, known for his energetic stage presence and street anthems, didn’t reveal what motivated the decision but expressed contentment with his new lifestyle.
Zlatan’s revelation adds him to the growing list of Nigerian music stars who have given up smoking in recent years. Industry heavyweights such as Don Jazzy, Peruzzi, Tekno, and Kizz Daniel have all publicly shared their journeys to quitting, citing health, discipline, and spiritual growth as reasons.
In 2018, Davido also hinted that he was considering quitting, noting that Don Jazzy’s successful experience inspired him.
Fans have since flooded Zlatan’s social media with supportive messages, praising his decision and commending his discipline. Many described the rapper’s transformation as a sign of maturity and self-awareness in an industry often glamorized by indulgence.
Zlatan, who rose to fame with his hit track Zanku (Legwork), has continued to evolve musically and personally, proving that his brand goes beyond street credibility, it’s about growth, purpose, and impact.
