Veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, has once again stirred heated conversations online after strongly condemning women who willingly accept the role of a second wife.
Taking to her Instagram page, the screen icon aligned herself with the words of a cleric who denounced the practice. She minced no words in describing such women as “greedy” and “selfish,” stressing that they thrive on another woman’s pain.
According to Edochie, there is no dignity or glory in becoming a second wife, as the union is founded on betrayal and misery.
Her fiery post read in part:
“IF YOU’RE A SECOND WIFE, YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A W!TCH. YOU ARE NOT INNOCENT, YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL, YOU ARE JUST GREEDY. YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO FEED ON ANOTHER WOMAN’S TEARS, TO BUILD YOUR HAPPINESS ON SOMEONE ELSE’S PAIN… A SECOND WIFE IS NOT A QUEEN. SHE IS A USURPER.”
The actress further warned that those who build their happiness on another woman’s suffering should prepare to face dire consequences, as the same tears and pain they caused would eventually “visit their doorstep.”
Edochie, who has in the past openly disapproved of Judy Austin’s marriage to Yul Edochie, once again used her platform to reinforce her stance against polygamy.
Her post has since triggered mixed reactions on social media, with some supporting her bold sermon while others argued that love and destiny can take unexpected turns.
