A 34-year-old woman lost her life Tuesday afternoon in a shooting that has shaken the Little Italy neighborhood.
Shawnquanice Kimbrough was headed to a medical appointment at UI Health when the attack occurred.
The shooting took place at approximately 1:35 p.m. on the third floor of a parking garage.
The garage is located in the 1100 block of South Wood Street.
Authorities say Kimbrough was targeted while inside the parking structure.

Investigators with the UIC Police Department are currently leading the homicide probe.
Early reports from university officials suggest the shooting may be rooted in a domestic dispute.
Officers quickly cordoned off the northeast section of the garage’s third floor.
Medical personnel were unable to save Kimbrough, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office officially identified the victim later that evening.
University officials released a statement confirming there is no ongoing threat to the campus community.
The shooter fled the scene before police could arrive, and no arrests have been made.
