A woman is dead and four others are injured after a car crashed into a pole on DuSable Lake Shore Drive early Sunday morning.
The accident happened around 2:21 a.m. near Soldier Field in the 2500 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
Chicago police say a man was driving the vehicle when he allegedly lost control.
The car slammed into a pole and then struck the median.
Paramedics rushed a female passenger to the University of Chicago Hospital.
Doctors later pronounced her dead from her injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the name or age of the woman who died.
The driver and three other passengers were also taken to the University of Chicago Hospital.
Police officials stated those four individuals are expected to survive.
Major Accident investigators are currently looking into what caused the driver to lose control.
It is currently unclear if the driver will face any citations or criminal charges.
