Liverpool star Mohammed Salah has revealed that winning the Premier League title this season is better than winning it in 2020 because of the opportunity to celebrate with their supporters.
The Reds won the Premier League title under Jürgen Klopp in 2020 but they were denied the chance to celebrate with their supporters due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Salah expressed his delight with the opportunity to celebrate with the fans at Anfield this time around.
He said: “It is incredible to win this with our fans. This is 100% better than last time [in 2020], especially with the fans. We have a different group now so to show we can do it again is something special.”
It was also a record-setting day for Salah, who scored his 185th Premier League goal to overtake Sergio Aguero as the division’s foreign top scorer.
Salah also heaped praises on Arne Slot for making their lives easier since he took over from Klopp in the summer.
He said: “He is very honest. The Dutch are quite tough but he made our lives easier. I am glad that we have won it here [at Anfield].
“You can see the numbers. Now I don’t have to defend much. The tactics are quite different. I said ‘as long as you rest me defensively I will provide offensively,’ so I am glad that I did. He listened a lot and you can see the numbers.
“When you play in the Premier League you have to defend but I said that I can gamble and somehow I can make a difference. My number of assists shows that, you can create chances as well.”
Salah’s goal against Tottenham was his 46th goal contribution this season in the Premier League, one away from equalling Andy Cole, and Alan Shearer’s record for most in a Premier League season.
Liverpool will be back in Premier League action against when they take on Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday.
