Nigerian music icon 2Baba, formerly known as 2Face Idibia, has officially held a traditional marriage ceremony with his fiancée, Honourable Natasha Osawaru and a video of the colourful event is already making waves online.
As earlier reported by BestLagos, speculations began swirling on Thursday, April 24th, after a popular investigative journalist and blogger, Stella Dimoko Korkus hinted that the music legend and the Edo-born politician were set to tie the knot in a traditional ceremony. That report has now been confirmed with a viral video showing the couple performing traditional rites in the presence of family and community elders.
In the video, Natasha is seen adorned in traditional attire, her head covered with a scarf and her waist wrapped in the signature Idoma cloth, a nod to 2Baba’s Benue roots. The couple appeared deeply immersed in the cultural ceremony as 2Baba proudly introduced his bride to his kinsmen, marking a significant step in their union.
The scene was further brought to life with a vibrant performance by traditional dancers, also dressed in Idoma outfits. The dancers surrounded Natasha as part of the celebratory display, while 2Baba later walked up to where his people were seated, cheerfully spraying the performers with cash, a sign of goodwill and celebration in Nigerian weddings.
Social media users have been reacting to the surprise ceremony with mixed emotions. While some fans are elated for the music icon’s new chapter, others are still in disbelief over the wedding, especially given his long-standing relationship with actress Annie Idibia.
Regardless of the opinions, today’s event adds another chapter to 2Baba’s storied life; this time, a traditional one steeped in culture, love, and perhaps, a bit of controversy.
