Real Madrid star, Vinicius Jr has saw his biggest individual dream slip off his hands after failing to clinch the 68th edition of the Ballon d’OR in France yesterday.
Vinicius Jr has been a standout player for Real Madrid for a couple of years. The 2023/2024 season was however the best season for the Brazilian, guiding Real Madrid to UEFA Champions League win.
While many rooted for Vinicius to be crowned winner of the 2024 Ballon d’OR, UEFA and it’s voters had a different opinion. Manchester City’s Rodri was named winner, becoming the first Spaniard to win the prestigious award in 60 years.
The outcome of the award is now being pointed to political and racial reasons. Some believes Vinicius Jr skin color is the reason he wasn’t handed the trophy, citing a replica of similar situation when Pavel Nedved was awarded of Thiery Henry.

Teammates and fans of Vinicius Jr are showing solidarity to him, tagging him the best player in the world. Vinicius has vowed to prove himself again not withstanding what the outcome would be.
