Chicago police are investigating a grim scene in Brighton Park.
Officers responded to a call of a shooting Wednesday night.
The call came in around 8:03 p.m. in the 4500-block of South Albany Avenue.
When police arrived, they entered a residence on the block.
Inside, they discovered a 70-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman.
Both individuals had suffered gunshot wounds to the head.
Chicago Fire Department personnel pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Harry Kirkpatrick.
The woman was identified as 43-year-old Ann Kirkpatrick.
Authorities conducted autopsies on Thursday to determine the cause of death.
The medical examiner ruled Harry Kirkpatrick’s death a suicide.
He died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
However, the findings for Ann Kirkpatrick remain unclear.
Her autopsy results were listed as inconclusive.
Police are keeping the investigation open pending further forensic results.
Currently, no suspects are in custody for the shooting.
Detectives are working to determine the events that led up to the gunfire.
