Controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has finally broken his silence following widespread concern over his sudden disappearance from the public eye. The outcry was triggered after his elder brother, Mark Otse, posted a heartfelt video on Sunday morning, urging Nigerians to pray for him amidst unexplained circumstances.
In the emotional video shared via Instagram, Mark appeared visibly distressed as he called on Nigerians to remember his brother in their prayers. His message came after VeryDarkMan had gone quiet for two days; an unusual occurrence for the outspoken critic known for his consistent online presence.
“Good morning everyone, I am not here to say much. All I want you to do is to pray for VeryDarkMan. He has not posted for two days now. You all have been asking questions like ‘where is VeryDarkMan?’ The truth is I don’t know how to say this right now. This is so difficult for real,” Mark said, his voice laced with concern.
The video sparked a flurry of reactions across social media, with many fearing for the safety and well-being of VeryDarkMan. Speculation intensified, with users demanding clarity on his whereabouts and mental state.
However, in a bid to calm growing concerns, VeryDarkMan returned online hours later with a powerful and emotionally charged post, revealing the real reason behind his recent silence.
“I really wish everyone can understand. I haven’t been able to post in the last few hours because my mind is still fkd,” he began. He went on to express deep anguish over the ongoing killings involving herdsmen and farmers in parts of Nigeria, particularly in Benue and Plateau States.
“The killings involving the herdsmen and farmers is too much and believe me for the past 5 days, I haven’t been able to sleep. I’ve been asking questions and doing research to know what the problem really is and trust me, it’s been stressing me out,” he explained.
According to him, the cycle of violence is not new and has gone on for over a decade, yet the response has remained largely the same, protests, condolence visits from government officials, and little lasting action.
“Benue killings didn’t start today, Jos Plateau killings didn’t start today, it goes back 10/15 years, same style, same format, and same reaction (protest, security chiefs visiting victims and affected areas). Everything is the same,” he lamented.
“The question is not when does it stop, the question is how does it stop? What has the government been getting wrong? A lot of gains and a lot of losses. My mind is messed up in thoughts that I can’t explain,” he added.
Despite his troubled thoughts, VeryDarkMan closed his message on a lighter note, trying not to dampen his audience’s day. “Anyways, let me not ruin your Sunday with my worries. Happy Sunday, my people,” he wrote.
His message has since been met with a wave of empathy and support from fans and followers, many praising him for shedding light on the deep-rooted issues affecting Nigeria while also urging him to prioritize his mental health.
