Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe is no stranger to the spotlight, but even he was caught off guard by a particularly bold rumour that recently made the rounds about his sexuality. In a refreshingly candid interview, Arukwe opened up about hearing the rumour for the first time and his reaction was as hilarious as it was honest.

“They said that I was gay, and that shocked me to my balls,” he said, without mincing words. “I was excited too. Cos I heard that when they start saying those kinds of things, you will blow (famous), so I thought to myself, ‘this must be it.’”

Rather than shy away from the speculation, the actor chose to face it with humour and grace, revealing not only his thick skin but also his deep respect for the LGBTQ+ community.

“So, I have a lot of gay friends, they are my people, and I know their sexuality. And I love them to death. I have nothing against them whatsoever, but I’m not going to agree to what I’m not just because to some people they are a certain type of people. For me, let God judge.”

With this statement, Uzor Arukwe made it clear that while he supports and respects different identities, he remains honest and firm about his own. His words conveyed not only solidarity but also an understanding of the importance of authenticity in an industry where public opinion often runs wild.

Taking it a step further, Uzor Arukwe added that if the rumour were true, he wouldn’t hesitate to embrace it fully.

“If it were my sexuality, I would own it. I’ll be one of the hottest around. I would own it with my chest.”

His response drew admiration for its blend of humour and truth, and showcased his ability to turn an uncomfortable narrative into a powerful statement of self-confidence.

And just when fans thought they had heard it all, Arukwe dropped one last surprise: “The most shocking part was the person who they said was my boyfriend.”

Though he chose not to name names, the actor’s playful tone left fans both amused and curious. Ultimately, Arukwe’s response is a masterclass in how to handle rumours with class, clarity, and a hearty dose of humour.
