Two teenagers are fighting for their lives after a double shooting in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
The gunfire erupted around 2:45 a.m. in the 2200 block of East 67th Street.
Chicago police officers rushed to the scene following reports of shots fired.
They first discovered a 16-year-old boy lying unresponsive near an apartment building.
The teenager had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body.
Paramedics transported him to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
While searching the immediate area, officers entered a nearby apartment.
Inside, they found an 18-year-old man who had also been shot multiple times.
He was also rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Hospital staff listed both victims in critical condition as of Tuesday morning.
Investigators spent several hours canvassing the apartment complex for evidence.
Police confirmed they recovered two firearms from the scene.
Currently, no suspects are in custody for the shooting.
Area One detectives are leading the ongoing investigation into the violence.
