A heartbreaking story from Chicago’s past has come back into the spotlight thanks to a recent post on X. The post reminds people of a double murder that shocked the city in 2021.
In November 2021, 14-year-old Kevin Tinker was shot and killed in the Roseland neighborhood on the South Side. Three days later, his mother, Delisa Tucker, went to the spot to light candles in his memory. Someone shot her there, and she died from her wounds.
Police at the time did not say if the two killings were linked. No one has been arrested for either death.
The story gained fresh attention when X user @AmiriKing shared it on December 10, 2025. The post described the events and included a video clip of someone talking about the tragedy. It ended with advice to “move to the whitest areas you can find.”
This comment stirred up strong reactions. Some users agreed, while others called it out for bringing race into the discussion. One reply said, “Watch white people find a way to make this about race.” Another user wrote, “When your own people are your biggest enemies.” The post quickly went viral, with thousands of likes, reposts, and replies.
The original events happened in a part of Chicago known for high crime rates. Friends and family remembered Kevin as a typical teen who loved sports and video games. Delisa was a devoted mother who worked hard to support her family.
This reminder comes as Chicago continues to deal with gun violence. Stories like this highlight the pain families face and the need for solutions.
