A devastating road accident along the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road in Ogun State has claimed the live of Evangelist Ayodeji David widely known as Kekere Jesu and 3 other popular gospel ministers, throwing the Christian community into deep mourning.
Among the deceased are Evangelist Iyanu Joseph, Opeyemi Adesina, and Monjolajesu Oluwapamilerin. The tragic incident occurred while the ministers were reportedly on their way to a ministry assignment.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident in a statement released by the Ogun State Command’s Public Information Officer, Florence Okupe. According to the report, the crash involved multiple vehicles and was caused by overspeeding and poor visibility, which led to a high-impact collision. All four gospel ministers were said to have died on the spot.
Further reports from The Nation Newspaper revealed that the accident was a large-scale tragedy, claiming over 24 lives in total. The entire scene has since been described as horrific, with emergency responders battling to manage the aftermath.
In the wake of the tragedy, Kekere Jesu and his senior brother’s wife have already been laid to rest. His personal assistant’s body was transported to Ado-Ekiti for burial, while his fiancée’s remains were handed over to her family for interment.
The heartbreaking loss has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s gospel music and evangelical circles, with tributes pouring in from fans, fellow ministers, and church communities. As investigations continue, the FRSC has once again urged road users to adhere strictly to speed limits and ensure proper visibility measures to prevent such avoidable losses.
