Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, has opened up about her journey through heartbreak, healing, and rediscovered love in a candid interview with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu. The screen star, known for her resilience and talent, shared deeply personal reflections on her failed marriage to actor Adeniyi Johnson and how that chapter of her life shaped her present happiness.
Toyin, who was married to Johnson for roughly two years, revealed that her family had initially raised concerns about the union. According to her, her loved ones prayed for divine guidance and were warned that the marriage might not work, but she chose to go ahead regardless.
The actress admitted that she “turned a deaf ear” to their counsel, a decision she now sees as part of the learning curve that led her to where she is today. The revelation has sparked mixed reactions online, with fans expressing both empathy and admiration for her honesty and growth.
Reflecting on her current marriage to fellow actor Kolawole Ajeyemi, Toyin spoke with warmth and gratitude. Describing their bond as one built on “understanding, love, and mutual support,” she credited their shared values and faith for the strength of their union.
“In real life he is very calm, he is a prayer warrior, whenever I go to Abeokuta he is always there. So we started getting close and then started dating. I did not want anybody to know at the time, but then I started getting fond of him. Whenever he wants to go to work, I will tag along. As time went on, I no longer cared what people had to say, so I took him to my parents he took me to his, we had a little introduction and then I got pregnant and then marriage followed.”
The couple’s connection, as Toyin narrated, blossomed organically. She recalled how simple gestures and consistent support from Ajeyemi drew her in, and before long, their relationship moved from friendship to courtship, and eventually marriage.
Coming from a deeply Christian background, Toyin explained that her family also sought spiritual confirmation regarding her relationship with Ajeyemi and this time, the signs were positive.
“I come from a Christian home, so my family actually prayed about it and God revealed he was my husband. Now we have two kids, a boy and a girl.”
Toyin didn’t hold back her praise for her husband, stating how fulfilled she feels being with him and how he has brought calm and stability to her life.
“Trust me, I married one of the best. I will not say the best because there are other marriages I look up to like my godmother, but my husband is one of the best.”
Toyin Abraham’s heartfelt revelations not only shed light on her personal journey but also serve as a reminder that growth often follows pain and that love, when built on faith, friendship, and family, can be a beautiful new beginning.
