Mere hours after celebrated media personality Toke Makinwa set social media abuzz with the joyful announcement of her pregnancy, the moment was soured by a wave of unsolicited negativity. The excitement of her baby bump reveal on August 13, 2025, was quickly met with a controversial comment from an Instagram user, sparking an uproar across the internet.
The user, identified as Ninastitches, insinuated that Makinwa’s pregnancy was staged.
“Why do I feel like it is artificial and low key a surrogate but however the f*** I’m feeling congratulations to her,” the comment read.
Her words didn’t just trigger outrage among fans, it also drew strong reactions from some of Nigeria’s biggest entertainment figures, who rushed to defend Makinwa against the insensitive remark.
Nollywood powerhouses Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham didn’t mince words in their clapback. Abraham, visibly upset, unleashed a fiery rebuke:
“Some of you will suffer from your generation till your last generation. En oni kuro lori e, abaa ya**yam.”
Funke Akindele followed suit with a sharp insult, commenting, “Oloriuu*u,” making it clear that such remarks would not be tolerated.
Music superstar Tiwa Savage, however, chose a more measured tone. Rather than engage in insults, she urged the commenter to retract her words, saying,
“You should probably delete your comment. Please just delete.”
Despite the backlash, the comment lingered on the post for several hours, continuing to attract a flurry of angry responses from social media users who condemned the troll’s insensitivity.
Meanwhile, Toke Makinwa has remained unfazed by the drama. The 40-year-old media star continues to relish her journey into motherhood, proudly sharing pictures of her once-private baby bump and expressing her joy over this new chapter of her life.
This incident has once again highlighted the fierce protectiveness within Nigeria’s entertainment industry, where celebrities often band together to shield one another from online toxicity.
