Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today announced the safe rescue of all schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State.
The President also confirmed a wide-ranging security directive, ordering a full security cordon over forests in Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger States to combat recent kidnappings and acts of terrorism.
“All the schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State have been safely rescued,” President Tinubu stated.
He commended the swift response of security forces and praised the strength shown by the parents and community during the difficult period.
Major Security Push Against Kidnappers
In response to the increasing security challenges, particularly kidnappings and terrorism, President Tinubu has initiated a comprehensive security operation. The core of this new directive includes:
-
Full Security Cordon: Forests in Kwara State will be completely secured by a heavy security presence.
-
Air Force Surveillance: The Nigerian Air Force has been ordered to maintain continuous aerial watch over remote areas, especially in Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger axis. This air surveillance will work directly with ground troops.
-
Targeted Operations: The goal is to “effectively identify, isolate, disrupt, and neutralise all hostile elements” in these regions.
Community Role is Key
President Tinubu urged communities to play an active role by reporting any unusual movements or suspicious activities to support the ongoing operations. He emphasised the government’s commitment to move “decisively to secure every affected area.”
