Nigerian singer and global music sensation, Tems, has announced the launch of a new program called The Leading Vibe Initiative, aimed at supporting and empowering young women who want to build careers in the music industry.
According to a press release shared on Wednesday, July 2, the initiative will kick off in Lagos, Nigeria, with a two-day seminar scheduled to take place on August 8 and 9. The program will accommodate between 15 and 20 women, providing them with practical training, mentorship, and tools to help sharpen their skills in songwriting, music production, and business development.
“My goal with the Leading Vibe Initiative is to help discover and support talented young women who have the potential to redefine the industry,” Tems said in a statement.
“By providing access, tools and opportunity, we’re creating space for them to find their voices, step into their power and shape the future of music across the continent and globally.”
Participants will take part in meet-and-greets with top industry executives, panel discussions, studio sessions, and training on the music business. In addition, they will be given production software and other resources to support their creative growth.
The Free Mind hitmaker has partnered with leading music tech company Native Instruments, who will provide technical support and equipment for the program. Tems has also joined the company’s artist board, joining music legends like Alicia Keys, Noah “40” Shebib, Jacob Collier, and Ludwig Göransson.
The program, which begins in Lagos, is expected to expand to other African cities in the near future, offering more opportunities for young women across the continent to access mentorship and professional development in music.
Tems has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years, becoming one of the most celebrated African artists globally. She has earned two Grammy Awards, the first Nigerian artist to do so and scored multiple Billboard chart hits, including a No. 1 song. In addition to her music success, she also holds a stake in the MLS franchise San Diego FC.
With this new initiative, Tems is not only cementing her legacy as a world-class artist but also as a visionary committed to creating opportunities for others.
