On Friday, a shocking incident unfolded at Fair Oaks Shopping Center in Fairfax County, Virginia.
Security footage released by the Fairfax County Police Department shows a man attempting to abduct a toddler from an indoor play area.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Andres Caceres Jaldin, picked up the young girl and walked toward the mall’s second level.
The girl’s mother quickly intervened, safely recovering her daughter before the suspect fled.
Police arrested Caceres Jaldin later that day at a hotel in Chantilly, where he was also linked to a vehicle theft reported earlier that morning.
He faces charges of abduction of a minor and grand larceny-auto theft and is being held without bond.
