Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi has won the Greek Super League title with Olympiacos following their 1-0 win over AEK Athens.
Onyemaechi was in action for the whole duration of the encounter as Olympiacos defeated their arch rivals in the four-team Championship play-offs on Sunday.
Ayoub El Kaabi scored the only goal of the encounter to seal Olympiacos’ first league title since the 2022-23 season.
It would be recalled that Onyemaechi joined Olympiacos from Boavista in the January transfer window, and he has played a key role for the club since then.
He has made six appearances in the league, and he impressed in the clash against AEK Athens to further endear himself to the club’s fans.
The title was Olympiacos 48th Greek League title, and they have won it with three matches to go after holding an unassailable lead of 10 points.
They will be eyeing a domestic double ahead of the Greek Cup final against OFI on 17 May.
It was Onyemaechi’s first-ever league title in his professional career.
He made his Super Eagles debut against Sao Tome, and Principe in the final group match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Onyemaechi was also part of the Super Eagles squad that won the silver medal in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
