Rapman (Andrew Onwubolu), the creator of “Supacell,” acknowledged in an interview with Blex Media that the show’s renewal depended on its viewership numbers.

He remained optimistic, especially after seeing the early positive reception, and urged fans to continue spreading the word.

“The more people that watch it, the more likely we will get a second season, right? So keep running up the numbers and tell someone who hasn’t watched it to watch,” he said.

Rapman also took to Instagram to announce the exciting news of the sequel.

He expressed gratitude to those who supported the show, saying, “Massive thank you to anyone who ever shared anything positive about Supacell. To anyone who had nothing nice to say, the last slide is for you.”

“Supacell” follows the story of five South Londoners who unexpectedly gain superhuman abilities, including extraordinary strength, speed, teleportation, premonitions, and flight.

These individuals are brought together by Tosin Cole (known as Michael Lasaki), who leads them on a mission to save the woman he loves, Dionne.

Rapman, who serves as the series writer, executive producer, and lead director, shared his inspiration for creating “Supacell.”

He explained that the series was designed to inspire and raise awareness about sickle cell disease

“Before Supacell, ask anyone about sickle cell and one out of five people know about it. It’s crazy how unknown it is, especially for a disease that affects so many people,” said Rapman.

“I wanted it to raise awareness and make people who’ve got sickle cell feel seen and heard. I’m getting messages from young people and parents about how they feel so seen and before they wouldn’t talk about it with their friends and now they’re interested.”

The talented cast of “Supacell” includes Tosin Cole, Adelayo Adedayo, Calvin Demba, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Josh Tedeku, Eddie Marsan, Rayxia Ojo, Michael Salami, and Ky-mani Carty.
