Controversial Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington, has fired back at Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy after the latter gifted N20 million to street-hop star Portable for defeating him in a highly publicized celebrity boxing match.
The match, tagged ‘Chaos in the Rings’, took place on Friday night and ended with Portable being declared the winner after Speed Darlington failed to continue into the second round, allegedly due to an injury. Following the victory, Burna Boy, who has had a long-standing feud with Speed Darlington celebrated the outcome by rewarding Portable with a generous cash gift of N20 million.
Speed Darlington, never one to shy away from controversy, didn’t take the move lightly. In a fiery response posted on his Instagram page on Sunday, the self-styled “Energy God” accused Portable of using ‘juju’ (traditional charms) to win the match. He also threw fresh shade at Burna Boy, whom he’s mockingly referred to as “Long Face” since their unresolved legal battle.
Taking direct aim at Burna Boy’s interest in his affairs, Speed Darlington wrote:
“Nobody watches you more than your enemy. Because they wanna know if you are doing well. Long Face sleeps on my page. His whole life is now checking up on me.”
His remarks have since sparked a fresh round of drama online, with fans weighing in on the escalating tension between the two artists. While some see Burna Boy’s gesture as a power move and show of support for Portable, others believe Speed Darlington’s reaction proves he’s still deeply affected by the feud.
The celebrity boxing match may be over, but the verbal jabs between Speed Darlington and Burna Boy show no signs of stopping.
