Controversial street-hop artist, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over allegations of criminal defamation and related offences.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrest followed a petition filed by one Okunola Saheed, widely known as ‘Osupa’, who accused Portable of defamation, threats to life, incitement, and conduct capable of causing a breach of peace.
The police confirmed that Portable was apprehended in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, 2025, around 7:25 p.m., by officers from the Kwara State command. The arrest was made after a magistrate court in Ilorin issued a valid warrant authorizing the move.
“The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that following a petition received from one Mr. Okunola Saheed, popularly known as ‘Osupa,’ against Mr. Habeeb Okikiola Badmus (aka Portable), police detectives have taken lawful steps to investigate the allegations,” the statement read.
The charges levelled against Portable include criminal defamation, use of abusive language, threat to life, character assassination, and incitement. All serious allegations that led the authorities to act swiftly.
Upon arrest, Portable was transported to Ilorin, where his statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both sides. The police further stated that he is currently in custody and will be arraigned in court soon.
Known for his outspoken personality and frequent social media outbursts, Portable has been no stranger to controversy. This latest development marks another chapter in his turbulent rise to fame. Fans and followers now await the outcome of the legal proceedings.
