The Lagos State Government has launched a new crackdown on public nuisance and environmental violations.
Earlier today, the state’s enforcement team, on the orders of Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, arrested several individuals for causing a public disturbance and violating environmental laws.
The arrests took place on Ademolu Street in Oko-Oba, Agege, where the “Bola Boys” were apprehended. Their facility was sealed, and the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has been directed to begin immediate cleanup operations.
In a separate action, scavengers operating around Oregun Bus Stop in Ikeja were also arrested. According to the Commissioner, these individuals will face legal action under the state’s existing laws.
The Lagos government stressed that acts of illegal dumping and environmental degradation will no longer be tolerated anywhere in the state.
