Rivers United Defeat Remo Stars To Boost NPFL Title Hopes

Rivers United recorded a 1-0 win over Remo Stars at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium to boost their NPFL title hopes.

David Sholumade scored the only goal of the encounter to hand the hosts the maximum points against the leaders.

The victory helped Finidi George-led team to reduce Remo Stars’ lead to five points in the race for the NPFL title.

In Aba, Enyimba recorded a 2-1 win over Abia Warriors in the Oriental derby.

Ijoma Desouza opened the scoring for Abia Warriors before Kalu Nweke, and Joseph Atule netted to hand Enyimba the three points.

Nasarawa United boosted their relegation survival hopes with a 2-0 win over Akwa United in Lafia.

Leonard Ugochukwu, and Abubakar Garba scored the goals that sealed the victory.

Mohammed Hussaini, and Ahmed Family scored for Niger Tornadoes to lead them to a 2-0 over El-Kanemi warriors.

Lobi Stars, and Sunshine Stars played out a 1-1 draw, Ahmadu Liman opened the scoring before Johnmark Atule restored parity for Lobi Stars to ensure the share of the spoils.

Remo Stars will be back in action against Lobi Stars on Thursday, while Rivers United will take on Abia Warriors on Sunday.

Lagos based Ikorodu City currently occupy the sixth position on the log with 46 points from 31 matches.
