Reggae legend and acclaimed actor James Chambers, widely known as Jimmy Cliff, has passed away. The announcement was made on his official social media pages, where his family confirmed he died following a seizure that led to pneumonia.
In an emotional statement shared by his wife on Facebook, she expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the music icon whose influence spanned decades.
“It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” she wrote.
She acknowledged the global community that stood with him throughout his career:
“I am thankful for his family, friends, fellow artists and coworkers who have shared his journey with him. To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career. He really appreciated every fan for their love.”
Cliff’s wife also extended her gratitude to the medical team that cared for him in his final moments, noting their dedication and support.
“Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will follow your wishes,” she added, pleading with the public to respect their privacy as they navigate this difficult period.
