Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who caused a violent crash in the Gresham neighborhood late Thursday night, leaving two women injured and a building damaged.
The incident occurred around 11:25 p.m. in the 900 block of West 79th Street.
According to the Chicago Police, the driver of a gray sedan ran a red light and slammed into a white SUV.
The force of the collision sent the white SUV spinning off the road and into a nearby abandoned building.
The gray car remained at the scene, but the driver fled on foot before officers arrived.
Two women traveling in the SUV were injured in the crash.
Emergency responders took both victims to the University of Chicago Hospital, where they are listed in stable condition and expected to recover.
The City of Chicago Building Inspector was called to the scene to check the stability of the abandoned building hit by the SUV.
As of Friday morning, no one is in custody, and detectives are continuing to search for the driver of the gray sedan.
