Philadelphia rapper Qidere Johnson, known as LGP Qua, was fatally shot in the city’s Juniata Park on May 11, 2025, leaving the hip-hop community in mourning.
The 30-year-old, celebrated for his socially conscious freestyles, was shot in the chest around 4:40 p.m. on the 1400 block of East Luzerne Street, according to Philadelphia police.
He was rushed to Temple University Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Police believe the shooting stemmed from a robbery attempt, with two masked gunmen targeting Johnson and a friend, attempting to steal his gold chains.
No arrests have been made, and a $20,000 reward is offered for information leading to a conviction.

Rapper French Montana, who collaborated with Qua, posted on Instagram, “Damn, rest easy lil bro,” joining tributes from Meek Mill, Swizz Beatz, and others.
“Killing ambitious young bulls like this on Mother’s Day is a Philly type of thing smfh. shit will make you different. Prayers to you family and lets’s collect some of them g**s shit sad out there.” Meek Mill wrote.
Swizz Beatz said, “I’m super upset and hurt behind this loss. Sleep well young king.”
