Chicago police reported a violent Christmas night as gunfire broke out across the city, leaving one man dead and six others wounded.
The attacks spanned from the North Side to the South Side, with most incidents occurring late Thursday night into Friday morning.
Fatal Shooting in Park Manor
The most serious incident occurred at approximately 10:11 p.m. in the 7400-block of S. Cottage Grove Avenue.
Officers found a man in his 30s lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to his back and armpit.
He was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Multiple Victims in Critical Condition
Violence continued throughout the night, leaving several others fighting for their lives:

Englewood: Around 11 p.m., a 37-year-old man was shot multiple times during an argument in the 300-block of W. Marquette Road. He remains in critical condition.

Woodlawn: At 3:10 a.m., a 31-year-old man was walking in the 6300-block of S. Dorchester Avenue when two people jumped out of a silver car and opened fire. The victim was hit in the back and is in critical condition.
Teens Targeted in North and South Side Attacks
Two teenagers were among those injured in separate incidents:

South Chicago: A 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg by a group in the 2900-block of E. 91st Street just after midnight.

North Side: A 17-year-old boy was shot in the thigh while standing outside in the 5700-block of N. Rockwell Street at 1 a.m.
Both teenagers are expected to recover.
Two additional men were treated for gunshot wounds: a 36-year-old man shot in the abdomen on S. Stewart Avenue, and a 30-year-old man who walked into a hospital with a graze wound to his thigh.
As of Friday morning, Chicago police have made no arrests in any of these shootings.
Investigations are ongoing.
