As the marital crisis between Nollywood star Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, continues to make headlines, an old social media post from Regina’s father, Barrister Jude Ojeogwu, has resurfaced and it’s reigniting public debate about the actress’s controversial marriage.
The post, which dates back to the early days of Regina’s relationship with Nwoko, shows her father publicly disapproving of the union, calling it “a dangerous path” that his daughter and her mother, Rita Daniels, were treading.
This renewed attention follows shocking allegations by Regina’s brother, Sammy West, who accused Ned Nwoko of physically assaulting the actress and sending thugs to harm her. The viral confrontation has reignited public scrutiny of their controversial marriage, with many recalling early warnings from Regina’s family.
In the resurfaced statement, Ojeogwu clarified that he was completely unaware of the marriage plans and that the union took place without his consent or involvement. He also dismissed rumors surrounding Regina’s background, insisting she hails from Ogwashi-Uku in Delta State, not from Olor, as widely reported at the time.
His words read in part:
“Regina Daniels Ojeogwu is my biological daughter. Whatever is ongoing is not to my knowledge and without my consent. The fact speaks for itself looking at the picture.
Her mother, Rita Daniels, is treading on a dangerous path and I hope she will retrace her steps. Even the initiation ceremony into Otu Odu appears completely strange to Regina. All the opportunities for Mr. Ned Nwoko to discuss with me proved abortive, not realizing that we once lived in the same house in Onikpan, Lagos.”
He added that despite being alive and available for dialogue, Ned Nwoko avoided engaging him, leaving him sidelined in a matter involving his own daughter.
The resurfaced statement has since stirred strong reactions online, with many Nigerians revisiting past controversies surrounding Regina’s marriage, especially in light of recent allegations of domestic abuse leveled against the senator by Regina’s brother.
Fans have expressed sympathy for the actress, while others have described her father’s old warning as “prophetic”, suggesting that the current turmoil might have been avoided had his concerns been taken seriously.
