The Ogun State Government is set to take legal action against popular TikTok personality and entertainer, Ademola Abiodun, widely known as DJ Chicken, following a string of alarming road crashes that have raised serious concerns about public safety.
According to a statement released on Monday via the Ministry of Justice’s official X handle, the decision comes after the content creator was involved in yet another traffic incident, his third in just two months.
The most recent crash occurred on Sunday in Lekki, Lagos, where DJ Chicken reportedly lost control of his vehicle, narrowly missing several pedestrians. This followed an earlier accident on November 1 in Sagamu, Ogun State, where he rammed into two motorcycles, leaving a rider and a female passenger critically injured.
Witnesses in the Sagamu incident also alleged that DJ Chicken attempted to flee the scene before being apprehended by a crowd.
The Ministry of Justice described the pattern of crashes as troubling and unacceptable, noting that public frustration has reached an “organic outcry” for accountability.
Part of the government statement reads:
“Mr Abiodun’s heedless return to the wheel with no greater care just three weeks after makes it imperative that the state must intervene to protect the public. While civil compensation may resolve some collisions, certain road users pose a special danger to society and must be held accountable under criminal law.”
To this end, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, has directed relevant officers to expedite prosecution on the pending Sagamu case to ensure DJ Chicken is swiftly arraigned.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with law enforcement to safeguard residents from reckless drivers, emphasizing that no individual regardless of fame is above the law.
