Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has come out swinging against swirling rumours and pointed accusations aimed at her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, following the young influencer’s recent wedding to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.
The drama began after Tanzanian media personality, Mange Kimambi, publicly cautioned Priscilla to refrain from sharing romantic pictures and videos with her new husband online, at least until after Tanzania’s upcoming elections. Kimambi’s warning, which many saw as politically motivated, quickly triggered backlash and drew the ire of Iyabo Ojo herself.
Reacting to the warning in a fiery Instagram post, Iyabo Ojo did not hold back. She accused Kimambi of trying to intimidate her daughter and her son-in-law, describing the move as both disrespectful and uncalled for.
“@mangekimambi80 I am appalled by your audacity! Calling my daughter and her husband’s content stupid. You trying to drum fear & intimidation is unacceptable. Keep her out of your affairs. My daughter will post what she likes,” the actress declared in a strongly worded response.
Ojo also took the opportunity to shut down a viral rumour that claimed the lavish wedding ceremony was financed by the Tanzanian government, a claim that had caused a stir online, especially among Tanzanian netizens. According to the actress, the wedding was entirely funded by Nigerians, following a longstanding family tradition of celebrating in grand style.
“Regarding the wedding rumours, it is not your government that gave us the money. It is a tradition in my family. I want an elaborate wedding for my daughter in Nigeria, and we, the Nigerians, gave her one,” she stated emphatically.
Iyabo went on to make it clear that she draws a hard line when it comes to her daughter, warning Kimambi to steer clear of Priscilla’s personal life. “I don’t joke with my daughter,” she wrote, signaling that she is fully prepared to defend her family in the public eye.
The wedding of Priscilla Ojo and Juma Jux has been the subject of much media buzz, thanks to its high-profile nature and cross-cultural appeal. But with these recent developments, the event has now found itself at the center of a geopolitical and media storm.
While Kimambi has yet to respond directly to Iyabo Ojo’s clapback, the tension between both camps appears far from over as fans from both Nigeria and Tanzania weigh in on the explosive exchange.
