A North Chicago man will spend five years in federal prison after selling nearly 2,000 fentanyl-laced pills to undercover detectives.
Alfredo E. Rollins, 47, pleaded guilty on Dec. 16 to distributing more than 40 grams of fentanyl.
The sentencing follows a deep-cover investigation led by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group (SIG) and the federal ATF.
The investigation began in 2024 when detectives received a tip that Rollins was selling heroin laced with fentanyl throughout Lake County.
During the operation, undercover officers successfully purchased:

115 grams of fentanyl powder.

Nearly 2,000 pills containing fentanyl.
Police arrested Rollins in North Chicago immediately following the undercover transactions.
When officers searched his vehicle, they found 65 baggies of marijuana packaged for sale.
A later search of his home uncovered an additional two pounds of marijuana.
Rollins was taken into federal custody this past June.
Lake County Sheriff John D. Idleburg praised the task force for removing a high-level dealer from the community.
“Yet again, our Special Investigations Group investigated and arrested a dangerous offender who was selling a deadly drug in Lake County,” Sheriff Idleburg said.
He emphasized that the joint federal and local task force continues to target the region’s most active drug traffickers.
