Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that there is no conflict between him and the club’s president Florentino Perez despite their Champions League exit.
The defending champions crashed out of the competition following a 5-1 aggregate defeat to Arsenal in the quarter-finals.
There had been reports of discontent from the club’s hierarchy, and particularly Ancelotti’s future, stating that the Italian manager is set to leave the club at the end of the month.
Ancelotti has denied that there is conflict between him and Perez while revealing that they have the same idea.
He said: “Whoever says that there is a conflict is false. The president shows more affection in these moments than when we win.
“The Champions League is the most important competition for everyone. And the Champions League is the most important history of Madrid. But it’s not true that the rest do not count.”
Ancelotti admitted that he was by the harsh criticisms that followed their elimination.
He said: “The reality is that in this world everything is questioned. Questioning a club that has won almost 30 titles in the last decade seems misleading to me.
“The only thing I want to do is thank all these players because I’ve had a great time so far and I want to continue doing so. These players have given me the opportunity to win two Champions Leagues in recent years.
“I have spoken with the players and the club, we all agree, we have to fight for the titles that are on the line.”
Ancelotti’s contract will run out at the end of the season, and he has been linked with a move to coach the Brazilian national team.
Real Madrid will take on Athletic Bilbao in thea La Liga on Sunday.
