Sevilla striker Akor Adams has been ruled out of the season after suffering a thigh injury in their clash against Atletico Madrid in a La Liga encounter on Sunday.
Adams, who joined the club from Montpellier in January, suffered a rectus femoris muscle injury in his right thigh.
The Spanish club have confirmed that he is expected to be out of action for two months, which ends his involvement in the current season.
Sevilla said in a Statement: “The club’s medical team can confirm that Akor Adams suffered a hamstring injury in our last game against Atlético Madrid. The Nigerian striker will begin the recovery process on Wednesday.”
Sevilla signed Adams in the January transfer window to address their goalscoring problems as they languished in the lower rung of the table.
The Nigerian forward has endured an injury laden start to life in Spain, he suffered an injury that kept him out of action for five weeks against Getafe in February.
He has only played in three matches against Athletic Bilbao, Real Betis, and Atletico Madrid since returning from injury before suffering another injury against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Adams is yet to score nor record an assist for Sevilla since joining the club in January.
Prior to joining Sevilla, Adams scored 11 goals and recorded two assists for Montpellier in 47 appearances in the Ligue 1.
