Chicago police arrested a 45-year-old man following a violent stabbing on the city’s South Side.
Nigel Burwell now faces one felony count of first-degree attempted murder.
The incident occurred late Sunday night in the Avalon Park neighborhood.

Police responded to a call in the 8200 block of South Stony Island Avenue at approximately 10:16 p.m.
Officers discovered a 40-year-old male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital in critical condition.

Burwell is a resident of the 400 block of East Ohio Street in Chicago.
He is currently scheduled for a detention hearing at the courthouse located at 2600 South California Avenue.
The hearing is set to take place on March 11, 2026.
