Billionaire businessman and senator, Ned Nwoko, has addressed the viral rumours linking him to a young woman seen with him in a trending video that sparked speculations of marital trouble with his wife, actress Regina Daniels.
In a detailed public statement released on Friday, Nwoko dismissed the claims as “mischievous and malicious,” explaining that the woman in question was part of a courtesy visit by the Peace Ambassadors Initiative, led by Ambassador Dr. Adejo Sule.
The senator revealed that the team had visited him recently and, as is customary, photos and videos were taken during their interaction moments he said were now being misrepresented by bloggers and social media users to push false narratives.
“A video recently brought to my attention shows a young woman who visited with her team under the Peace Ambassadors initiative, led by Ambassador Dr. Adejo Sule, and it is now being circulated online with false claims attempting to affiliate me with her,” Nwoko said.
“It is unfortunate what social media has become, a space where moments are easily twisted for clout and misinformation. During the visit, photographs were taken with members of the delegation, as is customary whenever I receive guests. This is not unusual; even in public places or outdoor events, people often request to take pictures with me, and I oblige. It is therefore mischievous and malicious for anyone to exploit such gestures to fabricate false narratives.”
The Delta North Senator further clarified that he had no personal or private relationship with the woman featured in the video and urged the public to disregard any reports suggesting otherwise.
“Let me state clearly and unequivocally that the news being propagated around her visit is entirely false. I do not have any form of personal or private connection with her,” he stated.
Nwoko, who has been in the news multiple times over rumours surrounding his marriage to Regina Daniels, warned those spreading the false story to desist immediately. He also threatened legal action against individuals or media platforms involved in circulating the fake story, citing the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act of 2015.
“I strongly caution individuals, groups, or media outlets spreading this fabricated story to desist immediately. Any further propagation of this false narrative will attract appropriate legal action. The Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 remains in full force and applies to anyone involved in the deliberate spread of falsehood or defamation in cyberspace.”
The senator’s response comes after days of online frenzy following the circulation of the controversial video, which many speculated showed him with a potential new wife. The rumours quickly went viral, drawing public commentary and sparking conversations about his marriage to Regina Daniels.
However, with his clarification, Nwoko has firmly set the record straight, insisting that the viral claims were baseless and driven by mischief-makers seeking attention.
