Nigerian comedian and actor, Seyi Law, has stirred a wave of controversy online after reacting to a viral video of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, serving food at an event in Imo State.
The footage, which quickly made the rounds on social media, captured Obi moving around the venue with trays of food in hand, personally dishing out meals and warmly engaging with guests in what many described as a show of humility and grassroots connection.
However, Seyi Law saw it differently. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, the stand-up comic reposted the video and accompanied it with a biting sarcastic comment:
“This is the height of humility. Na today I confirm sey Peter Obi really humble.”
The tone of the message did not go unnoticed by Obi’s loyal supporters. Many of them flooded the comments section to defend the former Anambra State governor, describing him as a leader known for humility and simplicity, not publicity stunts.
While Seyi Law is known for his humorous takes on politics and national issues, his remark this time drew mixed reactions, with some applauding the satire and others accusing him of disrespecting a statesman.
The comedian’s jab at Obi adds yet another chapter to the ongoing online culture wars between political supporters in Nigeria—where even an act as simple as serving food can become a national talking point.
