Controversial social commentator and activist, Verydarkman, has finally broken his silence following the now-viral images and video clips showing Afrobeats superstar Davido and nightlife mogul Cubana Chief Priest at a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The duo’s recent visit to the presidential villa stirred a whirlwind of mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning their motives and speculating on possible political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amid growing online chatter, Verydarkman took to his social media platform to address the issue head-on after netizens demanded his opinion. Known for his unapologetic and often confrontational takes on societal matters, the activist made it clear that he holds no personal grudge against anyone choosing to support or associate with a political figure.
He stated:
“If you want to support Tinubu come 2027, that is your business. If you want to support any party, that’s your business.”
However, the activist drew a hard line regarding celebrity influence on the electorate, stressing that he would only take issue with Davido, Cubana Chief Priest, or any other public figure if they use their platforms to sway public opinion during the next election.
In his words:
“So if you dey talk say make I set camera because of Chief Priest and Davido, I ain’t gat that time, but where me and them go get problem na when 2027 make them campaign for anybody. They no get that right. Na where we go get problem be that.”
The remarks have sparked fresh debate online, with some users agreeing that celebrities should not weaponize their influence to manipulate the masses, while others believe they have every right to campaign just like any other citizen.
As political tensions subtly begin to mount ahead of 2027, it’s clear that the role of celebrities in shaping political narratives will remain a hot-button issue and Verydarkman is making it known that he’s ready to push back if he senses any misuse of that influence.
