Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P has shed more light on his decision to part ways with his twin brother and longtime music partner, Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy. The duo, famously known as P-Square, once dominated the African music scene with their chart-topping hits and energetic performances.
Speaking during a recent interview on Cool FM, Lagos, Mr P got candid about the challenges that led to their latest breakup. He admitted that while they had given their reunion a shot, it simply wasn’t working out as expected.
“There’s a joy that comes with going solo. Please respect our decisions. We’ve tried it, it’s not working,” he said, urging fans to support their individual journeys rather than dwell on the past.
P-Square, whose music defined a generation of Afrobeats fans, initially split in 2016 following internal disagreements. They surprised fans with a much-celebrated reunion in 2021, rekindling hopes for more music together. However, in August 2024, Paul Okoye confirmed that the iconic group had once again gone their separate ways.
While fans may feel nostalgic about the duo’s glory days, Mr P’s recent comments make it clear that he finds fulfillment in his solo path. As both brothers continue to pursue their individual careers, supporters are left hoping they each find success and peace in their separate lanes.
