As the breakdancing world talks about Rachael Gunn’s (aka Raygun) amazing performance in the women’s breakdancing competition for the Paris Olympic Games, new videos and freestyles of Molly Chapman, the Australian breakdancer who competed against Gunn during the qualifiers have surfaced.

Raygun got everybody’s attention with her strange performance that included impersonations of a kangaroo, a snake, and the sprinkler dance. However, all her efforts paid fruit to zero out of 54, a result that has attracted a sort of curiosity and controversy.

As Raygun turns into the sensation of the Games, a clip featuring her competitor, Molly Chapman, has captured great attention on social media. Chapman was chosen by Ausbreaking formerly known as the ‘ABA’ for the Olympic qualifiers.

The two dancers initially performed together at the World Championship held in Belgium the previous year, but they failed to rank high among the competing dancers, placing only 79th and 64th respectively out of 80 dancers. Sadly, that performance was a letdown by both.

Chapman and Gunn were accorded another chance at the WDSF Oceania Championships held in Sydney Town Hall last October. There, Gunn emerged as the winner against Chapman and two other competitors in the finals to qualify her for the Olympics.

The recently released clip with Chapman has become an object of people’s discussion among the fans. Shared by Marea Hannah Whitley on X, the video has gotten over 4 million views.

Whitley had written of her shock saying, “This is Molly Chapman, the breakdancer who lost to Raygun in the qualifying event to compete at the Olympics. Go figure,”.

Chapman has received mixed reactions from viewers, but the majority of them were positive. Most people are saying she is better than Raygun.

Some comments ranged from “Not great but still 10,000x better than Raygun” to “She can actually breakdance, how did she lose?” Some noted that parts of Chapman’s performance were better polished than Raygun’s dance.

One fan jokingly stated “I mean she has a PhD. What are Molly’s credentials besides being a better breakdancer?”
