A Metra train struck the front of a vehicle at a crossing in Hinsdale on Monday, spinning the car but leaving the driver with only slight harm.
Police in the west suburb shared video of the incident just over an hour after it happened around 11:45 a.m. at the Monroe Street train crossing.
The footage shows the vehicle stopped at the intersection with its front end over the tracks. As the train passes, it hits the car’s nose, causing it to spin.
The driver, alone in the vehicle, went to Hinsdale Hospital for very minor injuries, according to police.
The train suffered mechanical damage, and passengers moved to another train. Authorities asked people to avoid the Monroe Street crossing due to expected delays.
Metra later said trains were running again, but with major hold-ups.
