Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has come to the defense of Regina Daniels following the young actress’s shocking revelation that she married billionaire politician Senator Ned Nwoko at just 17 years old.
Regina, now 24, recently opened up about her early marriage and admitted to experimenting with drugs; something she claimed her husband encouraged. Her confession has since stirred widespread criticism and debate across social media.
Reacting via Instagram, Mary Njoku urged Nigerians to stop judging Regina harshly, reminding the public that the actress was still a teenager when she made life-altering decisions.
“She was 17. Teen. At 17, I was still figuring out personal hygiene. Some 17-year-old boys are still learning to wipe their asses. But now, we expect perfection from her because she is on camera?” Mary wrote.
The Iroko TV boss also condemned what she described as a culture of public shaming and hypocrisy, saying society often chooses to criticize rather than help.
She added that people should support others when they show signs of distress instead of waiting until their lives spiral out of control.
Mary’s heartfelt post has since earned her praise online, with fans commending her empathy and courage in standing up for Regina amid her ongoing marital scandal.
