The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has provided a fresh update on the building collapse in Mangoro, stating that no lives were lost. According to the service, five male construction workers who were trapped in the rubble were rescued alive.
The incident occurred at No. 5, Modupe Ola Street, Onipetesi Estate, Mangoro, where a partial collapse took place at the rear of a building under construction.
The structure was originally a bungalow that was being converted into a two-storey building. Occupants were still living on the ground floor at the time of the collapse.
The distress call was received at 5:39 a.m. Responding units from the Ikeja and Agege Fire Stations arrived at the scene and rescued the five construction workers, all of whom sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the situation is now under control and that no fatalities were recorded.
