A wellness check at a West Side apartment building for veterans turned into a shooting investigation late Saturday night.
Chicago police and fire personnel arrived at the Rauner Family Veteran Studios in the 2900 block of West Roosevelt Road just before 11:00 p.m. to check on a resident.
Upon entering the apartment, first responders discovered a 55-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his neck.
The victim was treated by paramedics on the scene before being rushed to a nearby hospital.
He is currently listed in serious condition.
According to investigators, the victim was unable to provide details regarding how the shooting occurred or who was involved.
As of Sunday morning, no suspects are in custody.
Area Four detectives are currently leading the investigation into the incident.
