Chicago police are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed a man’s life late Sunday night in the Englewood neighborhood.
The violence broke out around 11:19 p.m. in the 600-block of West 61st Place.
Officers were patrolling the nearby area when they heard several rounds of gunfire.
They immediately responded to the source of the noise.
Upon arrival, police discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was found unresponsive on the ground.
Emergency responders rushed the man to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Doctors worked to save him, but he was later pronounced dead.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s identity.
No suspects are currently in custody for the killing.
Area One detectives are leading the investigation into the shooting.
