A 43-year-old man died Sunday night after being targeted in a drive-by shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, according to Chicago Police.
The incident occurred around 9:52 p.m. in the 800 block of West Garfield Boulevard.
Investigators say the victim was standing outside when a white SUV pulled up.
Someone inside the vehicle opened fire, striking the man in the stomach.
Following the shooting, the wounded man sought help from a CTA bus driver, who immediately called 911.
Emergency responders transported the victim to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
As of Monday morning, no suspects are in custody.
Area One detectives are currently leading the investigation.
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
