A 47-year-old man is back in Chicago to face murder charges for a killing that took place over a year ago.
Chicago Police and U.S. Marshals arrested Adam Beckerink on Monday in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Authorities identified Beckerink as the person responsible for the death of a 36-year-old woman.
The fatal incident occurred on October 27, 2024, in the 1200 block of South Prairie Avenue.
After his arrest in Michigan, officials extradited Beckerink back to Chicago to face a judge.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office filed two felony counts of first-degree murder against him.
Investigators have not yet released the identity of the victim or a motive for the attack.
Beckerink is scheduled for a detention hearing today, January 13, 2026, at the courthouse on South California Avenue.
Police stated that no further details are currently available as the legal process begins.
