Chicago police are questioning two people of interest after a 67-year-old man was killed Tuesday.
The shooting happened in broad daylight near the United Center on the city’s Near West Side.
According to ABC7 Chicago, the violence broke out just before 1 p.m.

The incident took place in front of a residential building near West Madison and South Leavitt streets.
Police said two armed suspects approached the man on the sidewalk.
The suspects pulled out handguns and fired several shots at the victim.

The location was just steps away from a local fire house and a public library.
One witness, Julie Losch, reported hearing four or five gunshots from her balcony.
Losch noted that police arrived at the scene almost immediately.

The shooting triggered a massive police response to the neighborhood.
Authorities received an initial emergency call to assist officers who were responding to the scene.
It is currently unclear if officers were already in the immediate area when the shots were fired.

No police officers were injured during the incident.
Witnesses saw first responders performing CPR on the victim in the middle of the street.
The 67-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
Paramedics transported the victim to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
Doctors at the hospital later pronounced the man dead.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim.
Detectives remained at the scene until approximately 4 p.m. to gather evidence.
A long stretch of Madison Street was cordoned off between Leavitt Street and Hoyne Avenue.
Area detectives are actively investigating the circumstances of the homicide.
Police have not yet offered a specific motive for the deadly gunfire.
No formal charges have been announced for the two people currently being questioned.
